Always call 911 in an emergency.En una emergencia, llame siempre al 911. 540 adds people nearby; it does not replace emergency services. The app's alert screen always has a big Call 911 button. 540 suma personas cercanas; no reemplaza a los servicios de emergencia. 1. Press and holdMantenga presionado

Hold the big "help me" button for 2 seconds; a ring fills as you hold. Then a 5-second countdown starts, so you can cancel if it was a mistake. When it ends, your alert goes out. 2. Helpers nearby are alertedSe avisa a los ayudantes cercanos

540 looks for volunteers close to you first (about 500 m) and widens the search if needed. You see how many are coming and about how long they'll take. 540 busca primero voluntarios muy cerca (unos 500 m) y amplía la búsqueda si hace falta. Verá cuántos vienen y cuánto tardarán más o menos.

3. Say what's happening (optional)Diga lo que pasa (opcional)

If you can, tap what's going on (Medical, Unsafe, Weapon, Accident, Fire, Other) and add a short note. It helps the right helpers come first: for example, people with medical training for a medical emergency. If you report a weapon, helpers are told not to approach and the app prompts you to call 911. Si puede, toque lo que ocurre (Médico, Inseguro, Arma, Accidente, Incendio, Otro) y agregue una nota corta. 4. Help arrivesLlega la ayuda

Helpers are guided to you and you can watch them come on a map. When a helper arrives, your screen says "Help is here". La app guía a los ayudantes hasta usted y puede verlos venir en un mapa. Cuando llega un ayudante, su pantalla dice "La ayuda ya llegó".

5. End the alert with your PINTermine la alerta con su PIN

When you're okay, tap "I'm safe" and enter your 4-digit safety PIN, so nobody else can end your alert for you. Cuando esté bien, toque "Estoy a salvo" y escriba su PIN de seguridad de 4 dígitos, así nadie más puede terminar su alerta por usted.

You also have a duress PIN: your PIN minus one. Entering it makes your phone look like the alert ended, but the alert stays open and helpers are told you may be in danger. The app shows you your duress PIN once, when you choose your PIN. También tiene un PIN de coacción: su PIN menos uno.
